Obituary of Dulcie Rudd Strickland

Dulcie Rudd Strickland, of Breedlove Road, Bryson City died on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home. She was born March 26, 1916 in Jacksonville, FL. She was 94 years old. She resided her young life in Jacksonville, FL. She was the daughter of the late Rudy J. and Martha C. Rudd of Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ellison F. Rudd and Sherman J. Rudd; and two sisters, Edith Dorough and Ernestine Lacey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Strickland; and a daughter, Jennifer Rogers who died in February, 2006. She is survived by two sisters, Thelma Wilcox of Apple Valley, CA and Elouise Davis of Bryson City; and many nephews and nieces both locally and throughout the United States. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Whittier, NC. She retired with White Truck Corporation in Jacksonville, FL. She retired to Bryson City with her husband and daughter in 1981 and has enjoyed her home with family, friends and her church family for the past 30 years. Funeral services will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Tim McCourtney officiating. Burial will be at Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
