Obituary of Oneita Turpin

Oneita Turpin of Whittier passed away November 20. She was born on January 5, 1919. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard and a son, Billy Turpin. Surviving are five daughters, Joan Hyatt of Bryson City, Rachel Durland of Tallahassee, Florida, Louise Maida of Kissimmee, Florida, Susan Smith and Pam Cope, both of Whittier, one son, Jerry Turpin of Fairview and a sister Ollie Saeli of Las Vegas, Nevada; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She worked at Whittier Elementary School cafeteria and retired from Swain County High School cafeteria. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 22, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Ron Allen will officiate with burial in Thomas Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.
