IRENE H. WATKINS, of Jenkins Branch, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday August 31, 2010, in a Swain County Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Hester Earley Herron. She was a member of the Swain County Rescue Squad Auxiliary and a member of Sawmill Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister Dora Roland and 2 brothers, Odell and Herbert Herron.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Odell Watkins
1 son- Kenneth Crisp and his wife Darlene of Bryson City
3 Grandchildren- Shawn Votaw, Holli V. Taylor and her husband Shannon, Tyler Crisp
2 Great Grandchildren- Kadin and Kendall Taylor
1 Sister- Hazel Harris of Waynesville
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Friday at Sawmill Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Revs. Jimmy Lambert and Mike Cogdill will officiate with burial in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at Crisp Funeral Home. Where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
