Obituary of Wayne Willard Smith

Wayne Willard Smith, 89, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2013. He was a retired businessman, owner of Smith's Dry Goods and Smith's Grocery. He was proud to have had an active role in integration in the 1960's. He was a member of Mount Vernon Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Green; son, Harold Wayne; grandson, Keith Monday; parents, John Anderson (Pete) and Hassie Thomas Smith; brothers, Coleman, Bryan, Bud, Marshall, and Jack; sisters, Stella McClanahan, Prince McGaha, Caroline Cochran, Mae McClanahan, Rosie Fuller, and Edna Cook. Survivors include his daughter, Edna and Charles Monday of Blountville, TN, Wanda Eastridge of Knoxville, TN, Deborah Smith and John Carson Lambert of Bryson City; son, David and Rachel Smith of Bryson City; grandchildren, Cindy Suttles, Timmy and Eric Monday and Craig Smith; great grandchildren, Amy Southards, Jesse and Casey Suttles, Seth Smith and Carter Monday; and one great great grandchild, Zander Floyd. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 6 pm Thursday November 7, 2013 with funeral services immediately following at Crisp Funeral Home.
