Eugene Walter Lowe, 92, of the Franklin Grove Community went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 19, 2010 at his residence. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Joshua and Bertha Payne Lowe. Gene lived in Haywood County for 50 years having retired with L.C. Lawrence Leather Company before moving back to Swain County in 1985. He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Willa M. Amburn Lowe; one son, Bill Lowe and wife June of Candler, NC; one daughter, Sharon Eller and husband Bill of Jonesboro, TN; one sister, Emma Leighton Allen of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Shannon Eller, David Eller and wife Amy, Lori Larsen and husband Jason; and friends, Vickie Hyde, Peggy Hayes, and all the special neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Randy Watkins and Charles Ray Ball will officiate with burial in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Doug Smathers, Craig Jenkins, Mitchell Jenkins, David Eller, Chad Crisp, and Jason Larsen. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Lowe, Jeff Lowe, Brian Lowe, and Bobby Hayes.
