Obituary of Annie Mae Smith
Bryson City Dateline:
Annie Mae Higdon Smith, 67, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in a Buncombe County Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Laura Ellen Cabe Higdon, and wife of the late Ray Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lora Lee Smith; son Ricky Ray Smith; sister Margaret Merritt; and a brother Rocky Higdon.
She is survived by two daughters, Lesia Smith and Ronnie Jenkins of Bryson City, and DeDee DeHart and husband Wayne of Bryson City; one son, Jimmy Smith and wife Michelle of St. Petersburg, FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie Gunter of Bryson City, and Faye Higdon of Charlotte; two brothers, Johnny Higdon of Boone, and Jake Higdon of Bryson City; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Ray Ball will officiate with burial in the DeHart Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.
