Obituary of JC Freeman

J. C. FREEMAN, 82, Of Almond, passed away Wednesday June 16, 2010 in Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Sylvia Burnett Freeman. He also was preceded in death by a son, Ed Freeman. Formerly he owned Freeman's Motel and Turkey Creek Campground. He was a U.S.Army Veteran having served during the Korean conflict. He was a licensed airplane pilot, building contractor and real estate broker. He was a charter member of the West Swain Fire Department, and had been on the Board of Directors for Northwestern Bank, the Board of Trustees for Swain County Hospital and Board of Directors for Swain County Farm Bureau. J.C. had also been a member of the Civil Air Patrol and a member of the Board of Soil and Water Conservation and was as a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Edith Wright Freeman
1 Son- Jim Freeman of Almond
1 Daughter- Debora Lindsay and her husband Michael of Euchella
1 Sister- Bernice Andrews of Almond
1 Sister-in-law- Betty Lou Wright of Almond
Several nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Burial will be in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home
