Obituary of Minnie Elizabeth Rochester

Minnie Elizabeth Rochester, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2010. She was born September 1, 1923 and will always be remembered by her sweet smile. She was preceded in death by her dad and mother, Jacob C. and Lillie Mae Bowman; her husband, James D. Rochester; and two sons, James D. Rochester Jr. and Carl E. Rochester.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn E. Fortner of Bryson City, Gwendolyn R. Garrison and husband Miles Garrison of Decatur, AL; as well as two loving daughter-in-laws, Sarah and Tonya Rochester of Bryson City. She has eight grandchildren that she adored, Denny Rochester, Jeffery Rochester, Chuck Rochester, Scott Rochester, Greg Fortner, and Dennis Fussell and two granddaughters, Michelle Atkins and Gerri Smith. There are also eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Earl King will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
