Cherokee, North Carolina- Ms. Sarah Jane Reed Smythe's nearly a century of living, ended in her sleep March 27th Her Mother, Cinda Reed Tayor, 'Cindy' birthed 8: Richard, deceased, wife Freddie had 5 boy's and great grandchildren. Reuben & Mary Jane, have 2 daughters, Fran Walkingstick, & Wanda Taylor, with their 6, and growing. Frank & Charlotte, having Lois, twins Don, deceased, & Frank jr. - Pete, Gayle, Roderick and Lisa, with a growing little tribe. Fred, deceased. Helen Arch, having: Roselyn, Eddie deceased, Patricia, & Adrian, with great grandchildren. June Maldonado, deceased. Lee, the most honest/funniest man ever, and wife Pat, both gone, leaving a son Robert & wife Loretta in CA, & their son, Jake, also identical twins Dina, in CA, & Tina, in OR. Sarah was raised mainly by her grandparents, who died when she was quite young, was placed in the Cherokee Boarding School, speaking only Cherokee, continuing her education at Haskell, now a university. On graduation she continued taking business courses, graduating at 21. She then married Albert Ander, moving to California. They had 3 children: Patricia Louise, deceased. Jack deceased. Janice Faye of Cherokee. Her sister-in-law Dena Ander lives & works in Miami, OK whom she dearly loved. Sarah worked in CA for a hospital in medical records, budget, private doctor, and in Cherokee at the hospital and Bureau of Indian Affairs. Patricia 'Patti' Mount,a noble school teacher had 2: Lori Ann, deceased. Leaving 2 grandchildren, Edward Mount Zeilstra, with Diana having Ethan Edward 3 & Alec Henry almost 2. Elaina Marie & Larry, are raising Fernando Enrique 'Nando' almost 16, & Jordan Marsella, 7, all living in AZ. Sarah's family equaled 5 generations. She married Jack Smythe, in CA, moving to MN, and FLA, where they golfed & played cards. When he passed, she lived about 40 more yrs.(summers in Cherokee) & Fla. near her dearest friend, George Billman, for 17 yrs, deceased. Loving these Great Smoky Mountains, she returned her last 10 yrs. to be amongst family and friends, living in Tsali Care. Sarah Jane lived her philosophy, saying "go through life smooth & calm, and live it up!" Her last night with 'her girl', Janice, Sarah said , "lets sing" and she joined in to "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" with her niece Fran and husband, Sammy Walkingstick, nearby. Then Sarah said, "Lets all get out of here"......& so she did soon thereafter having completely lived life to the hilt, making a BETTER world by her kind behavior towards others. Sarah Jane Smythe would say to all of us....... "Keep A Song In Your Heart"
