Obituary of Maudie Mae Allen

Maudie Mae Allen, 85, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 24, 2013 in a Swain County health care facility. A native of Georgia, she had lived in Whittier for the past 25 years. She was preceded in death by three children, Wanda Sharon Ray, William Tracy Allen, and Velva Donna Hendrix. She is survived by six children, Ann Alls of Whittier, Wayne Ray of Whittier, Brenda Upshaw of McIntyre, GA, Lewis Ray of Whittier, Tom Allen of Bakersfield, CA, Carl Allen of Cherokee; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Sarah Askew of Washington County, GA, Betty Bache of McIntyre, GA, and Helen Martin of Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Whittier Church of God of which she was a member. Revs. Ned Pressley and Marty Pressley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
