Obituary of Edward EJ Messer

Edward J. Messer "EJ" of Jackson County passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024. He was born on June 16, 1938 the son of the late Edd Messer and Dezzi Wykle and husband of the late Margaret Ann Messer. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Rick Messer; granddaughter, Heather Abernathy; great grandsons, Kaine Temple and David Abernathy; sisters, Ella Mae Messer, Hester, Bea, Margie, Gertie, Faye; and brother, Don. He is survived by his sons, Randy (Wanda) Messer of Tuckasegee, Rusty (Donna) Messer of Otto, Ray (Wanda) Messer of Barkers Creek; daughter, Terrie Hall; and bonus granddaughter Kayanna. From loving his kids and 15 grandkids and 26 great grandkids, he loved riding to town with Randy, Going to get haircuts and new clothes. He also enjoyed coon hunting and fishing. He enjoyed visiting with Daniel to go see his goats and chickens. He loved being outside and family time. With many loving nieces and nephews, a special thank you to all the nieces and grandkids who helped with his care. In his final days he loved you greatly. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Nations will officiate with burial in the Barkers Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Hanna, Daniel. Mike. Casey, Brett, Sam, and Elisha. If anyone would like to bring food, please bring it to the Rockdale Baptist Church Fellowship Hall for a meal following the service.
