Obituary of Eino Melvin Lehto

Eino Melvin "Mel" Lehto, age 94, of Bryson City NC, passed away on Nov. 8 2024. Mel was born in Toronto, Canada, to the late Eino and Irene Letho. In his teens, he moved to the United States, then proudly served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Pratt Institute as a mechanical Engineer and over his career, contributed his expertise to several companies. Mel enjoyed woodworking, music, and dancing, especially with his beloved wife, Sonja. He is remembered for his energetic spirit and love for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his cherished wife Sonja and his son Mark. Mel leaves behind his daughter Lisa Chapman (Ron), daughter-in-law Margie Letho, grandchildren Kristen Geerts (Chris), Adrianne Williams (Carlo), Julie Letho (Vicente Ordonez). Brooks Chapman (Rayette), Tim Letho (Julia) and Eric Letho, along with 11 precious great-grandchildren.
His family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bryson Senior Living and Four Seasons Hospice for there compassionate care.
A service in Mel's honor will be held at Forest Memorial Cemetery in Newnan, GA, on December 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
