Obituary of Emory Lawrence Anthony

Emory Lawrence Anthony (Larry), 81, of the Lands Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday April 20, 2024. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Emory and Mary Aleen Anthony. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Sarah "Glenda" Anthony, two sisters Emmalee Williams, Alice Sampson, and two brothers Carol and Jack Anthony. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Sarah Jenkins Anthony, and his three children: Lisa Anthony Shields and husband Rod of Knoxville, Tenn., Emory Anthony Jr of Bryson City, Brian Anthony and wife Mandy of Candler. Step-children: Michael Laws and wife Robin of Bryson City and Melinda Kirkland and husband Dwayne of Bryson City. Four grandchildren: Alisha Thomas and husband Phil of Cherokee, Zachary Weeks and wife Katie of Waynesville, Lily Anthony of Cherokee and Payton Anthony of Candler. Step-grandchildren:​​​Amanda Hyde and husband Cory of ​Robbinsville, Brittany Kirkland of ​Leicester, Michael Laws Jr and wife Patience of ​Robbinsville, Emily Smith and husband ​Jake of Bryson City. One great- grandchild: Laeklynn Taylor of Cherokee. One brother Ernest Anthony of Bryson City. Sister in laws: Deb Rasmussen and husband Bob of Todd, NC, Cathy Cook and husband Jiles of Bryson City, Jenny Hyatt of Bryson City, Shirley Flemming and husband Harold of Bryson City. Brothers in law: Odell Watkins of Bryson City, Bobby Jenkins of Bryson City, Billy Jenkins of Bryson City, Randy Jenkins and wife Allene of Bryson City. The family will receive friends from ​1:00pm-2:00pm on ​Saturday April 27th 2024, at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City, NC. A memorial service will follow at ​2:00pm. Dwayne Kirkland will officiate.
