Obituary of John James Ross

John James Ross 86, of Bryson City, passed away at his home March 7, 2024. He was born in New York City, NY, on July 21, 1937, and was the only son of the late John C. Ross and Marion Lipinski Ross. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryson City. John was very active in several community clubs including the Lions Club, & Knights of Columbus. He traveled extensively and enjoyed bowling. He also managed the St. Joseph Thrift Store in Bryson City. He is survived by his dog Peppy; his cousins: Tommy Lipinski (Mary Young) of Little River SC, Barbara Lopatowski, of Vero Beach FL, Arlene Tom of NJ, and several other distant relatives. He is also survived by his special friends and caregivers, Rebecca, and Jose Alvarado. A funeral service will be held Monday March 11, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, at 2pm. A receiving of friends will be held an hour prior to the service. Father Peter Shaw will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Swain Memorial Park.
