Obituary of Delma "Bill" Johnson

Delma Freeman Johnson “Bill”, 94, of the Needmore community went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 2, 2024. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late John and Virgie Tabor Freeman and wife of the late Paul Wiff Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Celeste Johnson; sister, Clover Steele; brothers, Dub Freeman, Dennis Freeman, Spurgeon Freeman, and Roger Freeman.
She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. She was a loving, kind, Christian woman all her life. She was grandma to a lot of people in her community. She loved singing and playing the guitar. She always had a smile on her face and always had a hug for you. She never had anything bad to say about anybody.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry James (Mark); granddaughter, Sonia Monteith, Dustin Cabe (Lillie), Shana Jenkins, Holly Hooker (Josh); great grandchildren, Ally Parker, Peyton Jenkins, Gracie Monteith, Audrey Monteith, Micah Cabe, Zaven, Tazio, Nasri, Chloe Byfield, Aiden, Everly, Ruthie Hooker; great great grandson, Beau Jenkins; and sister, Anne Bowers (Carl).
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at the Bryson City Church of God. Pastor Marty Pressley will officiate with burial in the Maple Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 pm Friday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Parton, Kregg Parton, Keith Parton, Jake Moore, Ray Moore, Zaven Byfield.
