Obituary of Thelma Arvey

Thelma Arvey, 59, of the Deep Creek community went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Pearl Welch. She was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Maney. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Stanley Arvey; one son, Brent Arvey and wife Lindsay of Bryson City; one granddaughter, Taylor Rickman; two sisters, Kathy Sequoyah of Cherokee, Marilyn Cloer of Sylva; and one brother, Eugene Welch of Gastonia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Deep Creek Baptist Church of which she was a member. Revs. Mike Cogdill and Earl Holden will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Crisp Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 min. prior to the service.
