Randall Jay (Randy) Smith, 56, of the Kirklands Creek Community went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his residence. A native f Oregon, he had lived in Swain County for the past 23 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. He was owner of Randy Smith Construction Company where he was a welder and building contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kirkland Smith; one son, John Smith of Boone; one daughter, Janessa Smith of Bryson City; one stepson, Jason Howell of Bryson City; one stepdaughter Amanda Collins and husband Benji of Bryson City; five grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Taylor, Isaiah, Joshua; mother-in-law, Ruby Kirkland of Bryson City.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Holly Springs Baptist Church of which he was a member. Revs. Benji Collins and Shane Danner will officiate with burial in Holly Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
