Obituary of Aidan Francis Murphy

Aidan Francis Murphy, from Davidson, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the age of 22. Aidan was driving through the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina on Saturday afternoon as he loved to do, when he suffered from a seizure that resulted in a fatal automobile accident. He grew up in Davidson and attended the area schools from preschool at St. Alban’s Church through high school at William A. Hough, from where he graduated in 2018. Growing up he was a great athlete and played several sports – but he was most passionate about football and lacrosse. Aidan was a free spirit and ultimate adventurer. From snowboarding and skating to fishing and catching waves at Carolina Beach, Aidan loved being outdoors. He was even planning his trip to New Zealand with friends where they would spend a year on a fishing boat. Although his adventures here have come to a close, they were memorable and fulfilling due to his lifelong friends. Aidan had the biggest heart and an even bigger sense of humor. He made everyone laugh and feel good, even in the hardest times. He was a skilled and meticulous craftsman with certifications in HVAC and electrical work. If anything was broken, Aidan could fix it. He completed multiple renovations on many houses including his parents’ homes to help them sell. Aidan is survived by his father, Francis Xavier Murphy and his wife, Elena; his mother, Michelle Murphy Clapp and her husband, Stephen; his sister Kathryn “Kacie” Murphy and brother, Brendan Murphy; as well as Ashlee Simes, Todd Simes and Parker Clapp, his siblings through his parents’ marriages. He is also survived and loved by a large family including his living and recently passed, grandparents, aunts, uncles and several cousins. A memorial service will be held at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, North Carolina on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 2pm with Pastor Zach Burris officiating. A celebration of Aidan’s life will be held immediately following the service at the Brickhouse Tavern in Davidson, North Carolina. Aidan loved animals so in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations in his name, to the Cornelius Animal Shelter in Cornelius, North Carolina. It is evident by the outpour of support from Aidan’s friends, family and an amazing community, how loved he was.
