Obituary of Hester Marie Cochran

Hester Marie Maney Cochran, of Swain County passed away July 16, 2023, at Swain County Community Hospital. The daughter of the late Sam Maney and Laura Sutton Maney, she was born at home on Tow String in Cherokee NC. She met and married her husband Dee Wayne Cochran in November 1963. A faithful and diligent follower of Christ, she loved to garden and can and caring for her children and grandchildren. A quietly strong woman who used her faith to maintain her life and the lives of her family. She was also a huge collector of shoes; she had a pair for every occasion. In addition to her parents and several siblings, she is preceded in death by 4 children; infant children: Bryan Cochran & Melissa Cochran, a son: Jerry Cochran; and a daughter Crystal Styles. She is survived by her loving husband, Dee Wayne Cochran; 3 children: Cecil Cochran (Donna) of Alarka, Michael Cochran (Jessica) of Sawmill Creek; and Kevin Brown who is proudly serving his country in the Navy; 2 brothers: Barnett Maney & Johnny Maney; a sister Myrtle Foster (Mike); She also is survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Friday July 21, 2023, at the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home at 11 am with Bill Loucks officiating the services. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. After the services internment will occur in the Brendle Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Brown, Chazum Keener, Jackson Pittard, Alan Keener, Vern Schuler, David Bolick, Danny Barker, and Scott Thompson. The Family asks that in lieu of flowers donations to help with funeral expenses be made to Crisp Funeral Home.
