Eugene “Carroll” Woods, Sr., 78, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 14, 2023. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Horace “Tycob” and Lela Woodard Woods. He was a member of Governors Island Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. He also sang with Shinning Pathway Quartet and the Governors Island Quartet. Carroll was a US Navy Veteran having served during Vietnam. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Grace Woods; children, Eugene Carroll Woods, Jr. of Bryson City, Robert Wilson Woods (Cynthia) of Franklin; grandchildren, Kristie Ball (Dylon), Trey Woods (Brittany), Dustin Woods, and Kayla Woods; and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Justin Ledford will officiate with burial in the Holly Springs Cemetery #2. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Larry Wiggins, Wayne Brendle, Jeff Hyatt, Chuck McMahan, Jamie Fisher, and Dustin Woods.
