Edwin Ammons posted a condolence

My name is Edwin Ammons. I grew up one mountain over from where Ann and her siblings lived for the early part of their lives. I remember the house they lived in and the rough road that led there. Their house was surrounded by an apple orchard. I remember the twins Jay and Faye and especially Curtis. Curtis was a hero and a villain at the same time. He was away defending our country but when he came home on leave he was a wild man. At least that's the way he drove. He straightened every curve and fishtailed through every straight on our rough mountain roads. I was happy to see him until he got in his car.
Ann and I were both born at Needmore, she just 45 days after I was. She was born at the former home of her grandmother Dora Laura Byrd Breedlove who was my great-grand mother. I was disappointed that my grandfather Alfred Gaston Breedlove was not included as one of her uncles. Maybe there is something I don't know. Gaston, as he was know, was born in 1897 between John and George. Gaston married Cora DeHart. He died in 1948 of brain cancer two years before I was born.
Ann and I are 1st cousins once removed. Considering we were practically the same age you would assume we went to Almond Elementary School together but Oct 15th was the cutoff date. I would have turned 6 before that date and Ann was born afterward. I started school at 5 so she was a year behind me in school.
I have a little place just across the road from where Ann's ashes are to be. My parents Fred and Thelma Ammons, my brother Stephen, my sister Freda and my wife Yvonne are there waiting for me. If you happen to visit the cemetery look for Yvonne's and my stone. It is a cross. There is a bench with an invitation to sit down and rest a while. Please do!
