Obituary of Juanita Loretta Dills

Juanita Dills, 84, of the Sawmill Creek Community passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday May 13, 2023. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Harris and Helen Smith Harris. An avid seamstress she enjoyed creating unique designs for her family and friends to wear. She also loved to cook, and to provide for her family. She was the Book Mobile Librarian for the Fontana Regional Library for many years and enjoyed connecting with her community thru this outreach. She also worked with the School System as a bus driver for 19 years for Swain County Public Schools.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Fred Dills, and a Son Bobby Dills Jr., and a great-grandson Ridge Cochran.
She is survived by her daughters: Judy Cochran and husband Rick of Bryson City, Angie Ashe and husband David of Aberdeen, WA, and Tammy Owen and husband Brian of Little Canada, one daughter-in-law Kim Trantham and husband Max of Bryson City; 11 grandchildren: Travis Cochran, Ryan Cochran, Bryan Cochran, Courtney Dills, Justin Dills, Hailey Trantham, Miranda Sheridan, Cari Baxter, Jason Ashe, Casey Owen and Jamie Owen; 27 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday May 20, 2023, at Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church, at 2pm with the Rev. Jeff Waldroup officiating. The family will receive friends Friday May 19, 2023, from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Chapel of Crip Funeral home. Committal Service will be held with burial at the Old Davis Branch Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Cochran, Bryan Cochran, Justin Dills, Dylan Cochran, Harley Cochran, Sawyer Cochran; Honorary Pallbearers: Travis Cochran, Hunter Cochran, Mason Cochran, Trevor Cochran, Korbin Cochran.
