Robert H. “Bob” Miller, age 78, of the Deep Creek community, completed his fight with cancer, peacefully at home with his loving wife, Sue, by his side on March 29. 2023 after a 19-month battle. Born in Highlands, NC, on December 6th 1944, he was the eldest son of 3 to the late Homer and Nellie (Wilson) Miller. Bob graduated from Highland High School and served his country in the Army during the Vietnam war. A resident of Swain County for 45 years, Bob retired from UPS after 26 years of service. He then went on to work in Real Estate, first as a realtor and owner of Bryson City Real Estate and then as a certified appraiser with Miller Appraisal. He also assisted in the management of his wife’s and daughter, Stephanie’s, campground and store, Smokey Mountain Campground & Deep Creek Tubes for the last 20+ years. He was a member of the Bryson City Church of God. Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years (April 20th 1974) Brenda Sue Jenkins Miller, his daughters Misty Lynne Sneed and Stephanie Leanne Miller & his son Robert H. Miller II, all of Bryson City, his grandchildren, Evan (Kelsey) & Emelye Sneed of Boston MA, Bryce Schenck of Florida & Autumn Miller of Bryson City, brother Garnell (Elizabeth) Miller of Georgia, sister-in-law Rita Miller of Tennessee, brother-in-law Johnny (Debra) Jenkins of Bryson City, family friend Anita Brady and her two sons, Will (Isabella) and Austin, close friends Jim (Margaret) Cosman of Georgia and Mike (Andrea) Crisp of Bryson City. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sara Sue Collins Miller and brother Ronald “Ronnie” (Rita) Miller. He will be terribly missed. Bob’s family will be hosting a celebration of life ceremony at the Bryson City Church of God on April 30th, 2023, at 3 pm. Pastor Marty Pressley will officiate the ceremony. All who know Bob are invited to attend and join the family following the service for dinner. Flowers can be sent to the church for the celebration or donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of their choice in memory of Bob.
