Obituary of Faye Geneva Thomasson Lawhon

Please share a memory of Faye Geneva Thomasson to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Faye Geneva Thomasson Lawhon , 86, born March 8th 1936 in the Collins Creek Great Smoky National Park, departed this life for heaven Friday August 5th 2022. Faye loved to can and preserve food as much as she loved to cook and garden. She had many jobs in her lifetime, from running and cooking in several restaurants to being a counselor at the Cherokee Children’s Home to being a CNA. No matter the profession, her love and heart were shared. Faye was a member of the first clogging team from the mountains out of Maggie Valley. She could be seen clogging and dancing wherever there was live music. She owned and ran Ela Campground for several years. She traveled the world, but her roots have always been Swain County. She was a friend to all, and if you visited her, you never left hungry. She lived life well and loved all. If you asked her what her greatest job ever was, however, she would tell you it was raising her four children. A proud native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late James Irvin and Lola Nations Thomasson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Juanita Webb, two brothers, Bobby James Thomasson, and William Curtis Lee Thomasson. She is survived by four children; Kimberley Shuler, Robert Shuler (Myriam), Timothy Shuler (LeAnn) and Kristie Bunn; a sister Barbara Thomasson Bowman; brother, Ronnie Thomasson; and grandchildren Chance Shuler (Kristan), Kasey Shuler, Alex Bunn, Emma Shuler, Gabriel Lassiter; and great grandchildren Jordan Sawor and Gabby Shuler. She also had special friends and caregivers Theresa, Marcella, and DeDee, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends all over the world. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday August 20th at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1: 00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home. After the service there will be a picnic at the Collins Creek Pavilion. Following the picnic, the family will have a private ceremony to return her ashes to her birthplace. GSM has granted permission to spread her ashes.
