Obituary of John Alan Smith

John Alan Smith, 46, of the Buchners Branch Community went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his residence. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of Lucetta French of Cherokee and the late John Lloyd Smith who died in May of 2012. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran having served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiancée, Tracy Wolfe and her daughter, Layla; one son, Noah Bolden of Canton; two sisters, Sherry Baldwin of Charleston, SC, Dianne Smith of Murphreesboro, TN; one half-sister, Leigh Adair of Cherokee; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Wrights Creek Baptist Church. Chaplain Lewis Hardin will officiate. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Steve Youngdeer Post # 143. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Crisp Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 min. prior to the service.
