Obituary of Donald Douglas Earley

Donald Douglas Earley, 80, of Bryson City went home to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, March 27, 2022. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Andrew John and Maude Leanna Kirkland Earley. Donald's Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He was a member and deacon of Victory Baptist Church in Bryson City. He served as deacon for over 50 years as well as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Donald volunteered with multiple ministries and was never ashamed to spread the gospel. He presented the gospel to many, always telling them “Jesus Loves You.” Donald was a loving husband, father, pawpa, and a friend to many. He retired from NC DOT after working as an inspector for 33 years. He then worked at Asheville Airport as a construction inspector for 10 years and as an inspector for Lofquist Engineering for 3 years. He was also a member of the Gideons International - Swain Camp, and the N.R.A. He was preceded in death by his brothers Frank and Harry and sisters, Edna, Inez, and Chinera. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patsy Marr Earley; daughter, Paula Earley Fuller (Jeff), son, Jordan Earley (Cheyenne), daughter, Patricia Earley; granddaughters, Victoria Moore (Chason), Kristiana Fuller, Pepper Hoyle; grandson, Sterling Earley; sister, Jean Thomas; brother, Coy Earley; sister-in-law, Oma Lee Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Victory Baptist Church. Pastor Brian Schuler will officiate with burial in the Truett Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Thursday at the church. Pallbearers will be John Marr, Gene Shuler, Danny Shuler, Brian Shuler, Donnie Ballew, and Dave Lang.
