Obituary of Frank Earl Williams

Frank Earl Williams, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 7, 2012. Visitation will be held at the Whittier United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, immediately followed by the funeral services at 2:00 PM. Burial will then be at the Swain Memorial Park in Bryson City. Officiating will be Rev. David Baxter and Rev. Keith Williams. Crisp Funeral Home of Bryson City is handling the arrangements. Mr. Williams was born in Haywood County on December 17, 1925, and his family moved to the Thomas Cove in Whittier, NC, when he was 3 months old. He graduated from Swain County High, enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he served on the USS Invade. He later attended and graduated from Western Carolina University (then, Western Carolina Teachers College) in 1949. He worked for the US Park Service, the NC. Game and Wildlife Commission, Champion Paper Company at Lake Logan, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where he retired as Chief Inspector, Baton Rouge, LA. in 1988. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Whittier United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha and Jacob Rossell Williams; six sisters and brothers, Nelle Lee, James Edgar Williams, Elmer Williams, Carrie Barnhart, Ray Williams, and Viola (Vickie) Williams; and one nephew, James (Ron) Sherrill. He is survived by his two children, Michael Williams of Macon, GA., and Terri Core of Whittier; and three grandchildren, Kevin Core, Anthony Williams, and Trent Williams. He is also survived by one sister, Willie Sherrill of Whittier, and one brother, Rev. Keith Williams of Rougemont, NC, and fifteen nieces and nephews.
