Rev. “Jim” Roger Lee Frady, 71, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 6, 2022. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Ause and Ima Gene Hicks Frady. He preached at several churches in Bryson City and Cherokee and was the pastor of Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church for almost eight years. He loved and served his Lord for many years. He was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Frady; and his siblings, Evanell Dyer, Leonard Frady, Shirley Riddle, Maxine Freeman and Sam Frady. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Darlene Frady; children, Jimmy Lee Frady, Christie Anita Frady, Brittany Nicole Frady Welch, Isaiah Thomas Frady; grandchildren, Jacob Lee Frady, Kensie Madison Frady, Harvey Xavier Revis, Abel Wade, Amya Welch, Skye Welch, Carter Frady, Sophia Frady, Demetri Frady, and Spencer Frady; one great grandchild, Malcolm Lee Daniel; and sisters, Juanita Walker and Marcella Proctor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church. Revs. Christopher Nations and Jeff Waldroup will officiate with burial in the Mason Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday at the church.
