Albia Green Gunter, 78, of the Alarka Community went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Lebanon, VA. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Adams Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Whitey Gunter; three brothers, Leroy, Buster, and Cecil; and three sisters, Dollie, Mae, and Betty. She is survived by six children, Dewight Gunter and wife Paula of Statesville, NC, Junior Gunter and wife June of Newton, NC, Frank Gunter and wife Angela of Cherokee, NC, Jeff Gunter and wife Geraldine of Bryson City, Gail Street and husband Randy of Pounding Mill, VA, Lance Gunter and wife Jilinda of Cherokee; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Adams of Bryson City, Bobby Green of Whittier; and one sister, Fannie Wiggins of Bryson City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church of which she was a member. Revs. Kelly Dodson, Lelon Greene, and Jeff Waldroup will officiate with burial in the Fred Cochran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church. Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
