Mitchell Jenkins, 63, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 1, 2022. A native of Swain County, he was the son of Helen Jenkins of Bryson City and the late Robert Jenkins. He was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a logger by trade and an avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Jenkins and sister, Heidi Estes. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Wood Jenkins; children, Mitchell Jenkins, Jr., Shelley Jenkins Lossiah (Billy), Bridgit Nations (Randy), Craig Shuler; grandchildren, Landon, Kylee, Brittany, Savanah, Hannah, Presley, Jasper, J.J.; five great grandchildren; sister, Gail Anthony; brother, Jody Jenkins; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Revs. David Harris and Danny Conner will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 pm Friday at Crisp Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brian Anthony, JJ Reed, Josh Hair, Nathan Sellers, Randy Nations, Landon Nations, Travis Watkins and Chris Wood. Daryl Wood will be an honorary pallbearer.
