Obituary of Laura Ann Shields

Laura Ann Shields, age 48, went unexpectedly to her heavenly home on December 25, 2021. Laura was a graduate of Swain County High School (Class of 1991) and of Southwestern Community College. She was a member of the Dan Springs Baptist Church. She worked as a CNA at Mountain View Manor for many years. Laura was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Shields of Nantahala, paternal grandparents, Emmett and Myrtle Shields, maternal grandparents Robert and Lily Arvey and many aunts, uncles and cousins who welcomed her home. She is survived by her mother, Clara-Neil Arvey, her sister, Lisa Shields-Cook (Keith), her nieces, Loralei and Caroline McSweeney and her beloved fur baby, Bentley. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday January 1, 2021 in the Chapel at Crisp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends (1 hour prior to the service) with the burial following at Swain Memorial Park at a later date.
