Obituary of J D Estes

J D Estes, 88, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 17, 2021. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Sam and Birdie Brooks Estes.
He was a member of Conley’s Creek Freewill Baptist Church and a US Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Estes; and two sons, Bill and Edward Estes.
J D is survived by his wife, Diana Estes; two sons, Steve Estes (Debbie) and Tom Estes; siblings, Dorothy Davis, Paul Estes, Agnes Hawkins, Peggy Chambers; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Hawkins will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
