Obituary of Amanda Thompson

Amanda Thompson,95, of Cherokee went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 28, 2021. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Martha Owl Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Enis Thompson, Adam Thompson, Simon Thompson, Lawrence Thompson, and Wilson (Junior) Thompson Eugene Thompson. She was a member of the Cherokee United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Rita Driver/Bob, Vickie Thompson, Donna Sequoyah/James, and Eugenia Guess all of Cherokee; two sons, Eugene Newman Thompson/Amy of Rock Hill, SC, and Edward Lawrence Thompson of Cherokee; 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Miranda, Jeremy, Joshua, Stephanie, Brian, Anthony, Cliff, Austin, and Michael; 11 great grandchildren, Asija, Meli, Raelyn, Landon, Grason, Marleigh, Camaron, Ezekiel, Zacheriah, Logan and Benjamin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Thacher will officiate with burial in the Thompson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Nephews that she lovingly carried as babies will now lovingly carry her to her final resting place.
