Walter Dee Simonds (Junior), 72, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 3, 2021. A native of Swain County he was the son of the late Dee and Hazel Cochran Simonds. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Kenneth Simonds.
Walter was a proud U.S. Marine Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He also served in the Macon County VFW.
He is survived by one daughter, Christie Brooks (Patrick) of Bryson City; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Jones (Taylor), Ashley Owle (Brett), Katie Winchester, Riley Winchester, Reese Winchester, and Kennedy Anthony all of Bryson City; 2 great grandchildren, Avery Jones, and Lakelyn Jones both of Bryson City, and 2 sisters, Wanda Buchanan (EJ) and Gail Keel.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Pastor Tony Cochran will officiate with burial at Holly Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday at the Funeral Home.
