Obituary of Hershel Scott

Whittier Dateline Hershel Scott, 73, of Thomas Valley went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his residence. A native of Georgia and longtime resident of Orlando, FL, he had lived in Whittier for the past 10 years. He retired as superintendent for Meridith Corporation in Florida with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Church of God. He is preceded in death by parents, Walter James and Odessa Acorn Scott; two children, Patricia Anderson, Jeffery Melvin Scott; three brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Scott; two sons, Keith Scott and wife Dianna of Orlando, FL, Kenny Scott and wife Starla of Orlando, FL; five daughters, Lisa Castell of Orlando, FL, Sherry Sawyer and Mark of Orlando, FL, Teresa Scoggins and husband Mikie of Orlando, FL, Valeria Scott and Doug of Fairmont, W.Va. Michelle Strickland of Bryson City; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Russell and Wendell Scott both of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Louise Woods and Lois Phillips, both of Cleveland, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Leroy Spivey, Shirley and Robert Highsmith will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings at the funeral home.
