Obituary of Dillard James Day

Dillard James Day, 79, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 8, 2021. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late William and Ora May Morgan Day.
He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was a deacon at several churches in Swain County since 1980.
Dillard was preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Viola Willis Day; son, Sheldon Day; daughter in law, Taressa Day; granddaughter, Shelli Taylor; grandson, Joseph Bird; four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Israel, Layla and Sampson; brothers, Don Day of Grover, Douglas Day of Robbinsville; sister, Grace Gregory of Nantahala; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday at Harmony Baptist Church. Revs. Tony Cochran and Mike Holcombe will officiate.
