I remember working with Orris when I worked at the hospital ER. He was always so professional, considerate, knowledgeable, and nice. I wish for peace and comfort to each family member and prayers for the upcoming days.

I retired from the U.S. Forest Service in Graham County and was on a number of fires with Mr. Hughes when he was with the N.C.Forest Service. I especially remember one big fire in the Nantahala Gorge in the around 1968 or so. My condolences to the family.

I went to high school with Orris and loved him and his personality then. After I moved back to Bryson City, I attended church at Victory for a bit and he remembered me and we talked then. He will be missed by everyone who's lives he touched (which is many). Thoughts and prayers for the family. Know that he was loved.
