Obituary of EVELYN TREADWAY BLANKENSHIP

Evelyn Treadway Blankenship, 90, of the Whittier Community went home
to be with the Lord Monday August 10, 2009 in a Jackson County Health
Care Community. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the
daughter of the late Jim and Ida Wilson Treadway and wife of the late
Rev. James Eli Blankenship, Sr who she was married to for 57 years.
She was a member of the Patterson Chapel Baptist Church on Union Hill
Rd. where she attended for over 60 years. She retired from Drexel
Furniture Company. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Louise
Blankenship Anthony Phillips, and Ida Elizabeth Blankenship; two
sisters, Ruth Treadway, and Clara Treadway Davis; two brothers, Edward
and Harmond Treadway.
She is survived by children, Harold Blankenship and wife Eleanor of
Dillsboro, James Eli Blankenship, Jr. and wife Fran of Waynesville,
Jerry Blankenship and wife Pebbles of Whittier; 12 grandchildren; 11
great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; four step
grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Crisp
Funeral Home. Revs. Eddie Deitz and Sherrill Ammons will officiate
with burial in Eli Blankenship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and step grandsons.
