Having been proud to grow up with quite a large collection of local cousins, I always regarded and later recalled Debbie as the sweetest cousin of all. I remember wondering if she ever did anything mean or even mischievous like many of the rest of us in our youth. I doubt if she ever misbehaved. That good behavior lasted a life time with her being kind to all, nursing the sick, and teaching many others to do the same. She left quite a mark on family, friends, and community. She will be sorely missed.

Kelly and Kara... my heart breaks for you all. Your mom treated us all like her own kid. From health team relations to national honor society and so on. She had a very positive influence on my life and I know on many others. Love and prayers in the coming days, months and so on.

My deepest sympathy in the home going of Debbie. She was a sweet friend for many years. We worked together for a long time at Swain High School. She was a great nurse. My prayers are with the family and may God fill the empty place in your lives with His Holy Spirit. I will miss seeing her.

Steve--I was so saddened to learn of Debbie's death. One time when I was up home and the two of you visited Don your devotion to one another and mutual happiness was abundantly obvious. The story of the circle of your lives, being born on the same day and with your respective mothers sharing a room in the local hospital at the time, then many decades later "finding" one another for good was a wonderful one. Hopefully fond memories, recall of fine moments together, and time's slow but sure healing hand will give you some surcease from sorrow.
