Irene Shuler Hughes, 80, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on October 9, 2020. She was born in Swain County on December 24, 1939 to the late Vernol and Bonnie Shuler. Irene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very family oriented and enjoyed being around her family. She was also a huge Atlanta Braves Fan. Mrs. Hughes is survived by her husband, Frank Hughes, of 65 years. In addition, she is survived by one daughter, Billie Jo Tyrrell, (Robert); one son Scott Hughes; five grandchildren, Brian (Katy), Nikki, Allison, Holly, and Bonnie; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Cooper, and Jackson; one sister, Kathleen Brooks; one brother, Ted Shuler and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Cooper; a grandson, Bobby Tyrrell; a sister, Rhoda Lee Stanbury, and two brothers, Dennis and Robert Shuler. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October12, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Reverend Tim Dillard will officiate. Burial will follow at Swain Memorial Park. The family will received friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service. Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the Hughes family with arrangements.
