Obituary of Conrad James Mitchell

Conrad was born in Bermuda to Edna Lucille Mitchell and William James Mitchell, Sr. He grew up in Bermuda, New Jersey, and Texas. After graduating from Fort Lee High School, he moved to Texas to attend the University of Houston and help run the family business. In his 20s, he married, joined the U.S. Army, and had his first daughter, Melissa. Along with his wife, he built businesses such as laundry mats, liquor stores, and rental houses. He also built his first house with his own two hands. Additionally, he owned various real estate properties and to help run his parents businesses. Honoring his mother and father, he took extremely good care of them in his their final days and always respected his heritage. Later in life, he was blessed with his second daughter, Connie Lee. His interests were sailing, fishing, boxing, watching Yankees baseball, horses, cows, keeping up with politics, and business news. Conrad was happiest living a quiet, peaceful life in the country with his animals. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11:00 am at Cherokee United Methodist Church with Reverend John K. Ferree officiating. Burial will follow at Swain Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lukas Mitchell, Steve Cooper, Tom Haigler, Eric Haigler, Jason Haigler, and Lambert Wilson. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service. Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the Mitchell family with arrangements. Flowers can be ordered through rayandcoflorist.com.
