Obituary of Garnell W Thomas

Garnell W. Thomas, 87, of Bryson City passed away on June 24, 2020. She was born in Swain County to the late Mann and Vonnie Bowers. In addition, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband of twenty five years, Ted Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was an active member of Hillside Baptist Church. She also spent a great deal of time volunteering and tutoring English at Grace Christian School and in Swain County Schools. She was an artist at heart and loved to paint. She was also a gifted cake decorator. She was always looking for an artistic outlet. She is survived by two sons, Joe (Dana) Thomas and Ben (Laura) Thomas; one stepson, Mike (Stefanie) Thomas and a brother Drake (Ann) Bowers. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 25, 2020 at 4:00pm at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Al Alemany officiating. The family will begin to gather at the graveside at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Grace Christian Academy at 498 Arlington Avenue, Bryson City, NC 28713. Crisp Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
