Keniethea Barnes Hyatt, 65, of the Deep Creek community passed away Monday, February 24, 2020. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Dillard and Banna Burnette Barnes. She was part of Swain County Relay for Life and Swain Cancer Support since 1993. Keniethea worked in Banking in Bryson City for 45 years and treated her customers like family. She enjoyed sewing for people. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Mark Hyatt; children, Megan Hyatt, Travis Hyatt and wife Lee, Ryan Hyatt and Curt Hyatt; grandchildren, Hyatt, Kase, Carver, Connor, Cooper, Kinsley, Reaghan, Kimmey, Abra, Kendra; sister, Connie Southard and husband Jack; Brenda Hoskins who was like a sister; sister-in-law, Brenda Hampton; as well as many cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday at Deep Creek Baptist Church. Revs. Mike Cogdill, Tim Barker and Earl Holden will officiate with burial at Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Swain Cancer Support, PO Box 812, Bryson City, NC 28713.
