Ward Crisp
Ward Madison Crisp, age 70 of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 18, 2020. Born October 6, 1949 he was a native of Swain County, and the son of the late Albert Crisp and Marian Cochran Crisp of Alarka.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda Nations Crisp; daughter, Melissa Crisp of La Jolla, CA; son, Jeff Crisp and wife Sabrina, granddaughters Keira and Skylie Crisp, of Fuquay Varina, NC; and sister, Sharon Bedzyk and husband John of, Salisbury, NC; and his beloved pups Ozzy and Paco.
Ward was a graduate of Swain County High and attended Western Carolina University. He was an entrepreneur in sales and owned Sonic Enterprises. His career afforded him the opportunity to get to know many people across western North Carolina.
Ward was an active member of Victory Baptist Church in Bryson City and loved volunteering at the church and Manna Food Bank. He was dearly loved by his family and always put them first. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and community volunteer.
Ward was a truly selfless person, willing to help anyone at any time at the drop of a hat. He never met a stranger and made it a point to take the time to always speak to anyone he met. He had a special affinity for animals, being outdoors, and an appreciation for nature.
He was a hard-working man of many talents, self-taught in woodworking, carpentry, auto restoration, and could play almost any musical instrument by ear. A lifelong learner, Ward was able to master any skill he set his mind to and taught his children the same.
He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and community.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:30 pm Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Victory Baptist Church of Bryson City. Pastor Brian Schuler will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Manna Food Bank of Asheville (donate.mannafoodbank.org or mail to 627 Swannanoa River Road Asheville, NC 28805), or to Victory Baptist Church of Bryson City (mail to 1275 New Fontana Road, Bryson City NC 28713).
