Obituary of Edna Inez Lossiah

Edna Inez Smith Lossiah, 84, of Cherokee earned her wings and went home to Jesus on January 10, 2020. She was born in Swain County on July 7, 1935 to the late James and Cecelia Smith. Mrs. Lossiah was a member of Yellow Hill Baptist Church. She loved God and her family very much. She raised a large family and was a mother and grandmother to anyone who needed someone. She was kind hearted and always put others before herself. She loved to garden and grow flowers as well.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Lossiah (Jesus); one son, Shane Davis (Michelle); twelve grandchildren, Veronica Bradley, Jolynn Welch, Michale Welch, Nakesha Bradley, Michael Welch, Brandon Welch, Joshua Bradley, Richard Teesatuskie, Gabe De La Cruz, Aimee Teesatuskie, Juan Diaz, and Kevin Terron; numerous great–grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Dobbins, Lucille Winchester, and Ethyl Cunningham and numerous nieces, nephews, and special family members.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Abel Lossiah; one daughter, Mildred “Sue” Lossiah; one son, Charles Calvin Lossiah, and several sisters and brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020, at 1:00pm at Acquoni Baptist Church with Reverend Bo Parris officiating. Burial will follow at Yellow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Brandon Welch, Michael Welch, Jayden Welch, Austin Welch, Shane Davis, Damon Taylor, Kevin Terron and Derrick Taylor will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00pm on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Acquoni Baptist Church.
