Susan Irene Welch, 61, of the Birdtown Community went home to be with the Lord Friday, November 20, 2009 at her residence. A native of Swain County, she was the duaghter of the late Lee and Sally Ann Taylor Wade. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel, John, and Toby Wade; two sisters, Janie Smith and Mary Ann Wade.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bud Welch; two daughters, Frances Teresa Woodie and husband Bob of Crumpler, NC, Linda Thompson and husband Anthony of Bryson City; six grandchildren, Brandon Woodie, Nathan Woodie, Nikki Woodie, Krystal Allen, Anthony L. Thompson, Skippy Thompson; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Wade of Cherokee, Alice Wade of Cherokee; and one brother, Nathaniel Wade of Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Roy Lindsay and James (Bo) Parris will officiate with burial in Lauada Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
