Obituary of Virgil Crisp
Virgil Thomas Crisp
Many knew him as Bud Crisp. He was 85 years old. He was born in a small cabin behind The Fryemont Inn in Bryson City, NC on August 14, 1934. He passed away on December 6, 2019 at The Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. He fought a hard battle with colon cancer.
He is proceeded in death by his wife Elizabeth Jean McKinney Crisp of Asheville. They were married for 58 years. Also his parents Jim Crisp of Bryson City, NC and Mable Wikle Crisp of Georgia.
He is survived by his kids. Ricky Crisp and wife Tina Crisp, Tony Crisp and wife Dahlia Crisp, Sharon Crisp Lee. He has 7 grandkids, 19 great grandkids, & 2 great great grandkids.
In 1951 he signed up and went into the Navy. He served from 1952 to 1959. He was on the US Quincy CA-71. He was in the Korean War. He was station in many different places and fought for his country.
His favorite hobby was his old cars. He fixed and drove his cars and showed them off. People knew when the seen his cars that Bud was coming. He loved to seat and talk to people about his cars.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Monday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. His grandson Ricky Anthony Crisp will officiate with burial at Barkers Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Home.
