Obituary of Burl Edward Laney
Burl Edward Laney, 92, of Bryson City passed away on December 2, 2019. Mr. Laney was born in Swain County on November 14, 1927 to the late William Andy and Laura Laney. He spent his career with the United States Park Service. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
He is survived three sons Billy Laney, Charles Laney, and Edward Laney; two step children, Kimberly Stephenson and Karen Barefoot; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Norma Laney and a grandson Timmy Laney.
A funeral service will be held on December 5, 2019 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home with the Reverend Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service. A private family burial will follow the service. The family would like to express their thanks to the Reverend Eddie Stillwell, Mountain View Manor, and Four Seasons Hospice.
