Obituary of Mary Bridges
Mary Elizabeth McMahan Proctor Bridges, 80, of the Alarka Community went home to be with the Lord, Sunday December 1, 2019. A lifelong resident of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Voyd and Sarah Simonds McMahan. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands, McKinley Proctor and Wendell Bridges, and four brothers, Bert, Robert, Carl, and Voyd McMahan Jr.
She is survived by four children, Deanna Boston (Lee), Penny Cody (Jr.), Owen Proctor, and Karen Proctor all of Bryson City; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three brothers, Claude, Earl, and Lee McMahan; three sisters, Ruth Keener (John), Grace Woods (Carroll), and Joyce Cagle; numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Carolyn Crain.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Barker will officiate with burial in Brendle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
