Gene Curtis Evans, 87, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday November 5, 2019. A native of Macon County and longtime resident of Swain County, he was the son of the late Sheridan and Dollie Pendergrass Evans. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Curtis Evans and one sister, Pauline Passmore.

 

Gene retired at the age of 80 from Geno Air Conditioning and Heating. He was also a U.S Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dellene Mashburn Evans; one son, Randall Evans of Sylva; one daughter, DeeRita Ball and husband Troy of Canton; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Evans Grant and husband Brett of Bryson City; three grandsons, Joel (Suzanne), Brandon, and Justin (Cassie); six great grandchildren, Corey, Autumn, Levi, Lucy, Thaddeus, and Atticus; one brother, Raymond Evans and wife Roberta of Nantahala, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Samuel Manus will officiate with burial at Swain Memorial Park.

 

The family will receive friends form 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.
